I got sucked into a google hole  and learned about the horrifying amount of dead bodies littering Mt. Everest. There’s a section where the atmosphere is too thin and without the aid of oxygen you begin to hallucinate and will most likely end up dying. It’s called The Death Zone. It is near to impossible for other climbers to help those in distress and getting bodies down from this point is usually not worth the risk. Other climbers have to pass those by huddling in caves or wandering around snow blind. They are sealed into their fates.

I used to think people who climbed Mt. Everest were inspiring and heroic, but after reading about this it mostly just seems foolish and and almost irresponsible.
